Dojo Instructor Sensei Chris Robins

Sensei Chris was born in what was the heavily industrialised part of Sheffield, Attercliffe, in 1943. Fast forward to the mid Eighties, during the recession, when he and his family moved to Fareham,Hampshire. In the first year he fell seriously ill and was unemployed during a long recuperation. To cut a very long story short he later found employment training a team of unemployed people in Countryside Work, and at one point was threatened by a recent recruit to the team. Though nothing came of the confrontation he got to thinking" What would have happened if….."
So, on searching the local paper he found a club based in Southampton doing Goju-Ryu Karate, which made no difference at the time, since he assumed all karate was the same. In 1989 at age 46 he joined, and trained with this club until returning to Sheffield in 1991, having achieved his 7th Kyu (Green belt). Fast forward again to late 1991, he located Woodhouse Dojo a club affiliated to the International Okinawan Gojo-Ryu Karate.do Association, joined, and has been with the I.O.G.K.F.ever since, starting his own club in 2002 and now assisted by highly experienced Glenn Herbert 1st Dan. Like many people Sensei Chris originally started Karate for self-protection but has continued training for very different reasons. Twenty years later, he's still gaining experience in the training & techniques of Goju-Ryu. Attending sessions held in London, by Sensei Linda Marchant, in Liverpool with Chief Instructor of the E.G.K.A.,Sensei Ernie Molynuex ,and travelling all over the world to Gasshukus (training venues) and receiving instruction from top Goju-Ryu Sensei's, including Sensei Morio Higaonna world Chief Instructor of the I.O.G.K.F.
